The Whitcoulls Santa on Queen Street after undergoing a 100000 Dollars face lift.
It definitely looks better without the winking eye and the “come in” moving finger which used to draw unsavory comments from passers by.
It is 20m tall. The two flanking reindeer are a new addition too at 14.5 m height each!

The “old” Santa of years past at left.

Santa looked taller when he was at Farmer’s building.

Gosh this santa is old, I grew up in auckland and remember mum taking us to the farmers building, santa was always on the corner beckoning with his finger.

Looks not very safe over the entrance, but I’m sure from a distance – rather inviting. I agree the face lift was successful!
