the ferry from Picton
Posted on 27 August 2008

The Interislander ferry from Picton arrives into the Wellington Harbour. It connects the North to the South Island, the 92km voyage takes 3 hours and it is said to be one of the most beautiful rides in the world. I haven’t tried it yet… just ferryspoting for now…

I’ve taken that trip. It was a riot, especially for fans of projectile vomiting. I don’t get seasick but a lot of people around me did. Adults seem to manage the nausea but the kids get caught by surprise. I’ve never seen anything like it.
It’s all in a day’s work for the crew. They stand by in the cabins equipped to help those with green gills. Crew told me that was a fairly calm trip.
What I saw of the scenery was great but the visibility was bad most of the trip.
I’d like to do the trip one day – minus kids!
What fascinates me about this photo is the funny little dark blue tub in between the fibreglass pretties – I’d love to meet its owner!
I couln’t have enough of your wonderful sailing boots picture! Thank you the nice sea atmosphere!
